I met 6 of my students' parents yesterday at the first parent-teacher barbecues...
One of which turns out to be my colleague.

He rocked up to me, shook my hand and said, "Judith, I've heard many things about you."
"Huh? What things?" I replied.
"Ohh, lots and lots of good things. Like how you are such an awesome Mandarin teacher."
At this point I start fumbling and stammering and go, "What? Who's been saying that?"

That's when I found out that his daughter's in one of my Mandarin classes, and after every lesson she goes home and raves on and on about how awesome I am, and how my classes are so fun!

*swoon*

And then the other day, I had my first supervision of the year! WOOHOO. I had to supervise another teacher's class due to her going away on an excursion. I had just opened the lab door for the kids to come in, and I hear, "Oh wow, we've got the pretty teacher today!"

I'm telling you, I have NEVER been so embarrassed in my entire life. Oh my gosh.

*blushes like mad*

Finally! To hear the most awesome compliment EVER from the PRINCIPAL herself!!!
Helen walked into our LOTE staffroom today just as I was stepping out, exchanged our hellos and I run off to class.
Later during lunch, I was speaking to Rebekah, (who had a spare lesson previously and managed to speak to Helen), and she told me that Helen and her had an interesting conversation about me!

Helen: "We're so lucky to have found Judith, the kids absolutely LOVE her. They're going on and on about how awesome she is!"
Rebekah: "I know! Isn't she just lovely?"
Helen: "Yes! And the fact that she's doing Mandarin as well! The kids are enjoying it so much!"

I love Corinda to bits.

I just realised that in my social circle of uni friends (namely Jelly, Suguru, Mena, Jonathan, Goh, Griffith and Kenneth), I am the only one that's single. xD

I got roses from some of my students yesterday.
Only 5, not as many as some students who got up to 10+. Haha, they're popular.

Had dinner with the guys and girls who mercilessly teased me about my new job. LOL.
Something about how I should put Sex in front of my name tag to make it Sex Teacher. WTH?!
Or bring a whip to school to whip the kids into submission.
Of course, Goh was the one that suggested them, dirty minded as he is. xD

But otherwise, everyone had a gripe about me teaching Mandarin. LOL!
And I definitely had a blast showing off my new status. 8D
It's magnetic, which I think is damn smart, and that means no holes in clothes either! <3

Was a great dinner though, went to Lafka's Tavern down at West End, it was a nice cozy Greek restaurant with great service! Everyone was saying how I ought to have shouted out for dinner seeing I had gotten my first paycheck. LOL. I did pay for the entree ($25+) in the end though. Haha... And now I have 2 $200 notes in my wallet from everyone paying me in big notes. w00tzors.

In all, it was nice seeing everyone together again, and funny how the simplest of chocolate exchanges could be screwed up by one piece of paper. LOL.
Griffith was bugging me about another cosplay photoshoot.
Jelly wants to tag along. Mena wants to come over to my place.
Goh just wants to come bum over at the house and save on parking. LMAO.
Suguru just wants to come over and annoy the shit out of Joey.

So what did everyone do today? I was meant to go swimming with Jelly today but it was raining cats and dogs and I had really wanted to get a new tan. D=
In the end I bummed around at home playing TWEWY and drawing blanked face people and labelling parts for my Mandarin lesson on Monday. xD
I'm gonna spend tonight typing up a Simon Says sheet in Mando now too. LOL.

Scratch that, TEACHING EATS YOUR LIFE!!!

Oh my god. I am going to eat my words. Right now.
I used to say that teaching is only a job I do, once I step out of school, it's RELAX MODE WOOHOO!
NOT!

The other night I was in bed at around 10pm about to fall asleep when this thought suddenly hit me. "I should teach my Mandarin students about the Zodiac animals!! It ties in with Chinese New Year!" So I hopped out of bed and did lots of research on the Zodiac animals, the list of animals, the history of the zodiac (race) and then decided, I need more information for CNY. And that started off a whole new search for CNY resources!

Guess what time I went to bed in the end... 1.30AM.

And then this morning, I got up at 5.45am just so I could reach school at 7am to do major photocopying. I swear, thank god we teachers don't have a quota or have to pay for photocopying... Us LOTE (Language Other Than English) teachers have been photocopying so much, the numbers have surely hit the roof. We're just praying we don't get a call from the Registrar (they're in charge of accounts) saying, "Um guys, can you please stop photocopying/printing so much?" LOL.

I have absolutely no life right now. Everything is just lesson plans, thinking about resources for my lessons.. I have not touched ANY of my cosplays at all. It is so sad. So sad to the point that my Science Head of Department and Kevin (Japanese teacher) is asking me when my next cosplays are gonna be. *cries* Haha...

And to top it off, the principal (OMG SHE KNOWS MY NAME... I AM SO INTIMATED AND FLATTERED AT THE SAME TIME!!!) IMPLORED me to take on this new subject called IcIs (Intercultural Investigations) where I teach the low literacy students about different cultures.

Holy crap. I'm a first year teacher, teaching 3 different subjects, one of which I am not qualified for, and now might need to start planning a different subject (although still related to LOTE).... I'M SURPRISED I HAVEN'T CAVED IN TO THE PRESSURE YET!!! *pullshair*

At the very least, if I DO end up taking IcIs this year, I might very well be secured in my job next year at Corinda because I will be the only teacher who knows how to teach IcIs (a Chinese teacher who is able to teach the Chinese culture? How often does that come by?)

But man. It's all about the resources. I really need to get a car just so I can drive to the QLD LOTE Centre to borrow resources. (Photocopy through the roof again! xD) Apparently we can get up to 100 items a month. *waggles eyebrows* 8D

2nd day of school and I'm already feeling DRAINED!
There's just so much to do and I'm stoked to see what the rest of the year is going to be like!

Last year I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Corinda SHS Expo that happens once every 4 years. This year, I am fortunate enough to be a part of the bi-annual Corinda musical, as the PROPS CO-ORDINATOR!! This was because at the new teachers induction, I mentioned that my passion other than teaching was art and craft (all thanks to cosplay LOL) and Amy, one of the new drama teachers told the Drama HOD about it and WAHLAH! I find myself holding the script to the Corinda SHS Musical! *squee*

Lessons have been going great so far! I'm slowly learning my students' names which is great, seeing I see them during form, Math and Science. Not to mention I have other students outside of my form class from my 2 Mandarin classes and my Year 9 Math.

Although I have yet to meet my Year 9 Math and my 2nd Mandarin class, I find myself looking forward to the new faces.

My first lesson of the week was Junior Science with my 8s and they were so cute. We were discussing how Science is used in different jobs such as a nurse, engineer, chef, police etc. According to them, a chef needs to know chemistry in order to mix food together and the police needs to know human biology so he can shoot people without killing them and physics to calculate the speed of a person running away.
Did I mention the headache they kept giving me by constantly digressing from the subject?

"Miss, what's the difference between the FBI and the police?"
"Miss, what does FBI stand for?"
"Someone told me it was Female Body Inspector."

Oh gosh, these sweet little things... NOT. They're wolves in sheeps' clothing! Haha... And I thought they were all so quiet at the beginning of the day.

My Mandarin class was even more quiet. These students have never taken Mandarin before so they had no idea what to expect. I introduced a e i o u to them and the 4 intonations that went with it. They struggled a bit but they pulled through in the end, I just had them think like they were in a music lesson. xD Now to be a good teacher you gotta be able to suss out whether your students are engaged or not. I could tell they were getting a little tired of practicing the pronounciations so I decided to start them on basic words and phrases I'd use. Which worked out really well and got the class involved with standing up, sitting down, raising their hands and everything. Lucky for them, next lesson is going to be learning about the Chinese culture! That should be fun.

At least now I know what to do when I go into my 2nd Mandarin class for the first time. :D

Anywho, wish me luck with the rest of the year! I gotta get started on reading through the script for the musical and taking note of the props to be used, planning my Year 9 Math lessons, drawing up a birthday chart and rewards chart for my form class. Oh what fun.

Phew. 1 down, 2 more to go.

I know I said I wasn't going to be online and stuff.. But I can't help but come on just to celebrate!
I just finished planning a whole week's worth of Science lessons in just under 2 hours! WOOH.
Mental note, book Science lab for practical experiment and library for Science research.

Up next is Math and we're learning how to write 15 502 843 into words in the first lesson! LOL.

And finally, Mandarin. Yes Mum, I'm definitely going to go right back to the basics of bpmf, else how are they gonna learn how to pronounce all the pinyins? Gotta get some magnets to stick my posters up on the board.

I stupidly forgot to take out a loan from Resource Hire the Yr 9 Math textbook so I'm going to have to get it out tomorrow and rush the planning of the first lesson for Wednesday while I'm at the doctors tomorrow. Got my visa medicals to go for and I'm skipping the very first Dimensions of Learning meeting. >__< Someone remind me to ring Amy first thing in the morning to apologise! T__T

Hm, but if I keep on this track for the next few days, I'll probably have my lessons for the next few weeks all planned out then! =D And then maybe... just maybe. *prays*

Sorry guys, but I'll probably not be online on msn, deviantart or facebook this weekend and the coming week.

So what if there's a long weekend coming up, my schedule is already packed to the rafters with having to unpack my room and luggage and plan my lessons for next week!! @_@

For the uninformed, I'm embarking on my very first career, my dream job... A teacher! A Math, Mandarin and Science teacher to be exact!

Yesterday and today was pupil free day, so I pretty much was in a bit of a rush in unpacking my work clothes for school. Everything's all jumbled up in my head right now but I think I'll be fine.

My timetable is kinda crap, seeing I have only 4 spare lessons, which are all during Period 1 on Mondays to Thursdays. Meaning no more long morning tea or lunch breaks for me. T___T

I'm quite excited to meet my classes though!!
I have a Year 8 form class whom I will be teaching Junior Math and Science to, a Year 9 Math class and 3 Year 8 Mandarin classes!! The LOTE (Language Other Than English) HOD and the principal have such high hopes of me too! I just hope I can live up to their standards.

Today's full of shit and giggles
First off, Soul Eater photoshoot at the zoo yesterday! So much fun.

We went on an adventure today! *excited*
Brenda, Emily, Sabina and I drove to Qian Hu fish farm to have a fish spa! Oh my god, how exciting it was.
It was the furthest I've driven since I got my driving license, without any adult supervision, and with only a directory to help us find our way. How exciting! Haha...

But before that..
Church in the morning, and :icon13-zer0: came along! xD Sabina's Jewish so I thought maybe she might like to see what Catholic church is like. I'm never complaining about church being long again. Apparently Jewish masses(?) last for THREE hours!!! Phew.

After which we went to the Botanic Gardens to feed the fishes. (stopping at SPC for 2 loaves of bread first DUH!)
You shoulda seen them swimming around like mad to get to the bread! xD

Had lunch at the Gardens before driving to Qian Hu fish farm for a fish spa! We had such an experience there! The fishes were so ticklish! We first tried the small fishes and we kept laughing and squealing so much that the other people around us were staring and laughing at us! xD

And then we moved on to another spa that contained bigger fish. Apparently, bigger fish = bigger sensation. LOL! That's for sure!!! Now our legs are all smooth and dead-skin free! *sparkles*

Moving on, we decided that since it was only about 2pm-ish we'd go to the frog farm. We thought it was nearby but apparently it was at Kranji! Gah. But damn, it was definitely worth going to!!

We bought $2 worth of food to feed the frogs and fishes but guess what. We ended up getting probably about $10 worth? xD Because we spotted what we thought was a dustbin which really turned out to be a bin full of food!! :iconohohoplz:

And we paid $8 there to get a net, fish tank, fish food and the permission to fish for 4 fishes... We used them to catch tadpoles, transfer them in our empty food container and then reuse the tank to store our 17 fishes! 8D

So we got tired and decided to go home but OHMYGOD our journey home took 3 TIMES AS LONG!! Mainly because we got lost on the way back. >A<
Well, Mum always told me to keep left on the highway because it was the slow lane. But dammit! My exit was actually on the right!! So I kinda missed it and we got lost on the highway. LMAO. Oh wells. xD

Haha...

Went to the Botanic Gardens with the family today. Awesome fun it was. Got a new tan, bonded with the cousins, ate junk food and ran into two cosplayers from Odin's Sphere doing a photoshoot there. LMAO.

And then if all the games we played today didn't make me feel sporty enough..
Namely, "What's the time Mr Wolf?", "Captain's Ball", "Monkey in the Middle", "Frisbee", "老鷹捉小雞, "Volleyball" and "Soccer"...
We went to CCAB to play basketball in the evening too!

Which brings us to my title. 8D
Stupid Bosco hit me down and sent me skidding across our court into the other half of the court.
Apparently the skidding sound was SO LOUD the players on the other side of our court actually stopped and looked to see what had happened! OAO

But I guess they figured that if I was able to yell at Bosco for pushing me down I was A-OK so they turned back to their game.

Brenda was saying she was so embarrassed for me because everyone was looking at me sprawled on the ground! Bwahaha!!!

After missing the call on Friday and having to continuously call the deputy principal every two hours and checking my phone to see if she rang back...

I HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY OFFERED A JOB AT THE PRAC SCHOOL I WORKED AT!

I start teaching January 23rd 2009 a temporary placement until I work out my work visa or permanent residency before it becomes an official contract position.

(Mum, the DP said that there will be admin staff in the school from Jan 19th, so I can come anytime then. If possible to attend school on Jan 22nd - pupil free day - to meet with other teachers. So can I fly back Jan 20th night and land Jan 21st?)

I'm so excited! I am so glad that that pervert of a teacher had touched my leg, which led me to writing a formal complaint letter and then meeting with the principal herself to report the incident.

If I hadn't, she wouldn't have found out I was from Singapore and able to speak Mandarin and I wouldn't have been offered the job on the pure coincidental basis that I speak Mandarin, and teach Math/Science!

After all, a Math/Science and Mandarin speaking teacher is so hard to come by in Australia.

Looking on facebook, blogs and photos of my friends, they all seem to be living such adventurous lives. They seem to be having so much fun.

Me? I have just finished university, a Bachelor of Science, major in Mathematics and a post graduate diploma in Education behind me.
I can say that I have had a lot of fun hanging with my friends, made unforgettable friendships at the same time, friends that share the same hobby as me.
I can say that during my studies I have gone through many life changing experiences.

But am I really getting everything out of this life?

Long story short for that title..
Ever since I 'contracted' my little sun allergy, I never ever EVER got sunburnt again.
What happens is that I break out in hives and go all red like a giant lobster, to which people would say that I had gotten a sunburn. Not true.
I suffer for about 2 hours max all itchy but people with sun burns suffer for days when anything comes in contact with their burn.

So of course I gloated at everyone after I developed a beautiful tan when my allergy went down. But then by the end of Sunday night I had a sunburn on my shoulders.

OHMAIGAWD. I'M NORMAL AGAIN!!! OAO
I can get sun burnt!!
Maybe all those times when I had gotten my sun allergy was because I didn't get out in the sun very much.

Oh well.
Anyway, I had heaps of fun at Kirra beach, I didn't get to do the whole "I'm in two places at once" thing which was sad (cos Kirra beach is right at the border of NSW and QLD) but I got some shopping done for my family and myself and I got a tan and hopefully rid myself of my sun allergy.

Anyways, will upload photos onto facebook tonight and post them here tomorrow when everyone else has uploaded them onto FB. :D

Now that my assignments have all finished (as of November 9th, 11.59pm) I find myself with absolutely nothing to do.

I lazed around, woke up at 2pm, finally got out of bed at 4pm and then didn't do anything.
Really need to get started working on my props, style my Neliel wig, and get a new sewing machine.
Also need to start getting ready for next Sunday's photoshoot.
Let's see if I can cheat Crazy Clarks out of a sewing machine again. That is if they still sell them. =___= My Kanda costume isn't finished yet! >A<

Karin and I went jogging earlier on, for about half an hour around the neighbourhood where we stopped halfway at MacDonalds. Which kinda defeats the purpose of the exercise. LMAO.

Halloween oh so fun.

I wanted to go house egging... TAT But Casey's house was out in the middle of nowhere and there wouldn't have been any houses to egg. Hahaha.

Halloween was so freaking awesome!!! I had tons and tons of fun playing Taboo, Curses and Crystal's wadssit'snameagain game. xD

Some people totally missed out because they had to study.

Halloween went like this for me...

Woke up, showered, hopped onto bus to school, sent a message to my brother wishing him happy birthday.
Received message, "Wow, a foreign number. Thanks! Who's this?"
Why Ben! I'm so hurt. It's your darling sister of course! xD

Got off bus, went to office to get visitor's pass and see my supervisor to ask her questions regarding the topic "Obesity" in Science. In the end I wrote a survey for her and the students to do. xD

Went to visit my Year 10 Math students and got wished a happy world teacher's day. <3
~~I can't wait to go back to Singapore and teach there because every teachers' day is celebrated with a mass, a concert by students, parties and presents. No lessons AT ALL. WOOOH.~~

Went home, packed bag, changed into costume, Jem arrived in her Chidori costume. Haha, she looked so cute.

Bused down to Robyn's place and shopped at Bi-Lo for party food. Bought ice cream, got picked up by Robyn, poked lazed around her house before Jasmine and Dale arrived.

A secondary school teacher, 32, who did not want to be named, said a teacher should not pose for such shots nor should she post them.

The mother of a 4-year-old child said: ' Being in the teaching profession, the image of a teacher as a professional is important in nurturing children. '

' She is responsible for imparting sound ethics and moral values, apart from her teaching responsibilities. '

Another secondary school teacher, who also declined to be named, said: ' I suppose as a teacher, we are expected to uphold certain values and posing for such pictures does insinuate more loose values. '

On the argument that teachers should be allowed to do their own thing privately, outside school, she said: ' When you become a teacher, you are a teacher 24/7. There is really no such thing as private. '

' Your students are everywhere - in your estate, at the shopping centres, at the cinema, and online. '

' Posing in skimpy outfits would open a whole Pandora's box of controversy. '

Dr Carol Balhetchet, director of youth services at the Singapore Children's Society, said she would not even have to look at Tina's pictures to know a teacher should not be posing in a bikini.

The psychologist-counsellor of 18 years: ' If you are professionally involved with a school, there is an etiquette you have to follow because you have younger children who look up to you as a role model and as an example of how they are supposed to behave socially. '

Just an update about my life and university.

PHEW. That's my conference paper presentation done and done!
All that's left is my conference paper which is 3/4 finished. I hoped to have gotten it done by today but I had to go back to my prac school to
1. collect my weeds folder I lent to my supervisor
2. give my supervisor a survey for the multi strand science students
3. get wished "HAPPY WORLD TEACHER'S DAY" by my Year 10s. >w<

Hahaha, that was so sweet of them! I managed to catch up with a few of them and it was nice to know that they all passed last term because of me!! HURRAY!

They miss me all so much.

My conference paper presentation was awesome! According to the lecturer who marked me, I did fantastic!! Hopefully I get a 7 for it!! >w<

Hi Judith,
This is a surprisingly tricky question because the marking rubric refers to both your powerpoint slides and your handout which seems to suggest that they could be separate and different.

WTFWTFWTFWTF!! WHAT THE FRIGGIN' FUCK? WHERE THE HELL IS THIS MARKING RUBRIC AND HOW COME I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT HUH???! You see what I mean about lecturers telling you one thing but expecting something else entirely from you??!!!!

However, you may not have the time to prepare a separate handout in which case you could just reproduce your powerpoint slides as the handout.
So, it depends on how much time you have and how important it is to you to secure the highest result possible. If you have the time, I would suggest that you play it safe and produce a separate handout for the audience that summarises your presentation, but it is up to you - you have a better idea of your personal constraints and priorities.

Dinner was so yummy!! I couldn't eat as much as I had like the previous few days because the food took so long to come out!! And during that time I was drinking water or munching on bread and papadams and the entree. Yumyum. LOL. So by the time the curries came, I already felt so bloated. xD

I finally met Griffith's girlfriend Josie, and she's seen my Kanda cosplay photos and heard so much about me. So when she met me, she went, "Wow. You look so different!!!" Haha, omg I was so embarrassed.

And then Karin was telling her how I had cut my hair myself and she complimented it saying it looked awesome! Kyaaaah. I seriously cannot believe the number of compliments I've gotten so far with regards to my hair. Ran into a friend I hadn't seen in months and he said, "Wow! Liking the hair!" He gawked and went, "EVEN BETTER!" when I said I did it myself. :blush:

I had previously written an essay about "Bullying and it's implications on the development of children". If you're curious, you can download and read it here.
The word limit for that essay was 2000 words, however if I had gone into more detail I would have overshot it.

Therefore I decided that for my conference paper I'd look into more detail on the subject of bullying and relate it to my practicum experience.

"Bullying: Identifying and intervening, a whole school approach."
That's the title.

Using results from the survey and research literature, I'd show that bullying can take place anywhere at any given time, with or without provocation. Although size matters, bullies can still come in all shapes and sizes.

I would then go on to discuss how to identify bullies and victims and talk about the different methods teachers and schools can use to intervene.
And apparently our lecturer wants us to relate this to our practicum experience as well, I thought it would be good to throw in how my prac school dealt with their bullying situation slowly but effectively.

I'll post up my powerpoint presentation (for the conference) after I'm done with it too. My tutor's had a look at it and so far she's impressed with what I have. xD

Sue me, I'm sick of reading through 11 library books, 1 online book, 3 pdf books and 25 pdf journals. ALL ON BULLYING!

Firstly, procrastinate after ~~remembering~~ finding out that you need to do a whole heap of research and surveys/interviews/recalling prac experiences for your conference paper.
Oh wait. Did I mention to pick a topic first?

Next, rock up to your nearest library and borrow a whole heap of books on your topic.

Hop onto the nearest computer and source for online journals to help you. Make sure they are recent. Books/journals dating back to the 1980s are acceptable but discouraged. Reference a whole heap of it and you're in a whole load of shit. Make sure you find out what referencing style your lecturer wants. I know I need to use the APA referencing style.

Then, write up your 150 word abstract on your topic of choice.
My abstract includes
(i) a brief description of the topic or issue
(ii) the rationale or reason for focussing on that topic in this course on diversity and teaching
(iii) an indication of evidence and research that you will present, including experiences on practicum
(iv) the conclusions and implications for your teaching and teachers more generally.

Mind you, this was done in 20 minutes and it's due tomorrow.

To help you with your conference paper, fake your evidence if you want to/need to. *w*

Once you have collated your evidence, relate them to your research and real life experiences. Lecturers love it when you write in first person for conference papers!

And finally conclude your paper. :D Make sure it coincides with your abstract and the topic!

WOOH. Had a photoshoot with Karin on Saturday, mainly cos she had finished her thesis draft and was finally free. Plus she wanted to test out her photography skills.

The shoot went awesome!
Karin had invited Griffith as well, a friend that I had met at Mena's birthday partay. He's like super awesome and his reaction when he found out I was supposed to be a guy was hilarious.
"Uh, didn't the flat chest give it away?" I had said to him. LOL.
I reckon it was the long hair that threw him off. Karin thought Kanda was a girl when she first watched the anime too. LOL. He DID look pretty feminine at the beginning though.

One good thing about doing photoshoots in uni is that people would think you're involved in some drama course or something. LOL. No weird looks AT ALL! Maybe a few inquisitive ones, but no "WTF are they doing?"

And then after the shoot, we went to see 5 2-day old St Bernard puppies! They were so adorable!! >///<

Brain drain. I'm so tired. Played pictionary with KK and Mena today, almost fell asleep halfway. Wth right?

Serves me right too. I've had it pretty easy for the first half of this prac, *Yvonne had all her lessons planned out for the unit already. But today's test marked the end of the unit and we're diving straight into an unknown topic tomorrow. Spent a good hour today putting together a lesson and worksheet based on the work the year 10s had done last year. So tomorrow's lesson is kind of like a revision but also to refresh them on the terminology that they will require for this next unit and their assessment piece.

At least with this unit, we get to go on an excursion, two in fact. Not far from school though. xD Just the creeks 50m down from school, another 200m the other way.

Amazing how kids think that teachers are supermen and superwomen. The year 12s had a Math A test yesterday, and this morning when I stepped into class?
"Miss, have you marked our test yet? Miss, did I pass?"

Thank god I decided to mark their tests before I did their assignments. @@ Because I know they all want their tests back before their assignment grades.

So our lecturer set aside 30% of our assessment to be in the form of a quiz yeah? And he's a lazy bastard who can't be bothered to write up 40 questions and randomly select 30 for each student right?

WOOHOO. Facebook: Opens the door to a new era of cheating in quizzes.
Because we have 3 attempts at opening the quiz, some kind soul sacrificed one of their attempts to bring us the questions.
Later on, some other generous person shared their answers with everyone!
And finally, another smart and generous person vetted the answers and gave everyone a chance at a perfect score.

My Science CF unit plan is now sitting at 28,970 words and 26 pages. That still does not include the lesson plan that Jessica has just sent to me. Our unit plan was meant to be part group work, part individual. However, one of our dear group members was such a lazy bum that we decided to remove him of all other group work that had yet to be done. Bastard can go do it himself.
Needless to say, Ilana, Jessica and I will have a lot of bad things to say in our reflection of the unit plan. *snort*

So that's 99% finished, just need to put Jess' stuff in and speak with them about how we'll be submitting it.

And then YAY. My Science STA assignment that's due Sunday night 12:00am which is sitting at 0% completion. :S

In other news, I got a paper cutter for free! Not the penknife type, but the one where you slide the paper into position and you move the thing up and down to slice through it? :D

How dare that cow dare claim that us Education final years are special and get to start uni early?
Everyone's complaining that that one week off is not enough and way too short, and I come back from my holiday and already find out that I have an assignment due in 2 weeks and another in 3 weeks? Geez.

Man, missing my family and the oh so good food in Singapore right now. At least I got to eat some of the yummylicious food. Haha.

Flight back to Australia was eventful. And when I say eventful, I mean so eventful that quarantine officers came on board to take an Indian woman and her bag off the plane. Not only that, police officers came up and escorted a man off the plane.

Why? Because the idiot had been rowdy during the flight and I THINK he might have punched the male flight attendant, or at least threatened to. (I swear I heard the attendant say, "Don't you dare hit me.") I suspect that the dumbass must have been drunk and demanding more alcohol, and when he was refused he got verbal and possibly violent.

Monday was full of win! I attended a CPR and Senior First Aid course worth at least $1000 for only $90! Talk about cheap.

I know how to perform CPR now, I know how to tie bandages too. HAHA. Now I can go practice with Joey, apparently she does SFA too! Jody was at the SFA course too, so I'm gonna be hanging with her for the rest of Career Enhancement Week.

In fact, we're going partying tonight at Klub Kandy. WOOH. Been a while since I've been to KK, much less clubbing. Haha.
Can't decide what to wear. Jody bought this really slinky dress earlier with me, means I gotta dress up nice too! Veng's definitely going to go all out too, she always does that! xD Better go dig my wardrobe now. LOL.

Day 1

Fun fun fun!

I spent most of my 7.5h flight sleeping on the plane, landed in Singapore at 5.30am to find my parents, sister and 3 cousins waving to me from behind the class with the sign, "HELLO JUDITH"

Well, it was "JUDITH HELLO" until my sister realised she was holding it wrong. xD (And did I mention on the other side of the board was the word "JUDIT" because she had run out of space for my name. Hahaha...)

Got home and spent the whole (early) morning watching dvds with my cousins. Gabrielle and Damien came over to play after lunch, which was so great to see them again! :love:
They made me a card and got me a present! I was a mini tofu on a keychain! >w<

Did I mention that Gabrielle cut her hair, which makes it perfect for this other cosplay for her I was thinking of doing at the chalet. WHAT A COINCIDENCE! It's going to be awesome!

School funnies

Today was probably one of the funniest Math 12A classes I've had. Because they have already gone into revision for their upcoming test now, all Claire* and I do now is just walk around class helping students with problems. And of course, there will be the occasional student mucking around, sleeping or talking.
Ethan* is such a lazy boy, Claire* has told me that he should be out there doing an apprenticeship rather than waste his time in school.
He was sleeping in class today, right in front of Claire* who didn't notice because she was busy talking to another student and marking papers. So I pointed him out to her. Guess what she did? XD
She picked up her tissue box (cos it was light, the students were telling her to use the flower pot! xD) and threw it at Ethan*.
OMFG. You should have seen his reaction. It was priceless. He literally jumped off his seat in shock. HAHA. The class cracked up.
Another boy in the class, a little like Ethan* but he's capable, just very very lazy. Vahn* has this issue about his school uniform, he will always, ALWAYS have to roll his sleeves up really high. God knows why, maybe to show off his guns? LOL.
So what happened was that we kept telling him to roll them down, which he never did of course.
And that's when it happened. The bell had just gone, everyone was packing up, I walked over told him to roll his sleeves down one last time when I realised, IT WASN'T EVEN THE SCHOOL UNIFORM SHIRT!
Of course I voiced it out, guess what he did?
"WOOHOOOOOOOO" and zooms out the door, much to the chagrin of me and the amusement of Claire*.

Sigh. I'm really going to miss this lot.

I started teaching Yvonne's* year 8 Maths class today, simply because Claire* and Yvonne* agree that I need more practice and experience with behaviour management (and this class is perfect for it!) I wouldn't say my lesson this afternoon was perfect, I still have a fair bit to go, but it was a good lesson that cleared up a lot of misconceptions with the students. :) Nicky* and Amy* even want to make me a goodbye card and hold a farewell party for me when they found out I leave next Friday. Cue awww here please! >w<

I'm excited, I'm bouncing in my seat, I'm absolutely stoked!!!

My school is currently holding an expo day on the 30th May 2008.
The purpose of Expo day is somewhat like an open day for the school, where parents, students and members of the public
will be able to enjoy a variety of student performances and
displays, all highlighting the quality learning experiences that
occur at the school on a daily basis.

I had been approached by one of the lab technicians *Belinda who asked if I had heard about Expo day. In need I had and I was keen to find out more and if there was anything I could do for it. I had been thinking that it would be poster drawing or something like that. Who would have thought I would become involved in something bigger.

To cut the long story short, I spoke to the HOD of Science, *Nerva who gave me a brief rundown of what the Science department was doing. A forensic science investigation, where the public would have to pay $2 to enter.

Parents, students and public would come in in groups to investigate a murder that took place almost 3 years ago. Using the evidence they find, such as clothing fibres, lead traces, hair and investigating the list of suspects, they have to find the murderer.

Guess what my role in this is going to be?

POLICE CHIEF INVESTIGATOR.
Talk about awesome huh. *Nerva is going to try and get a police uniform for me, *Marg has a police cap she's going to bring in for me.. All I have to do is bring one of my wigs in for the skeleton/body, and red hairs from my Karin wig to put on the body. (The murderer is a redhead) Oh and guess what, the HOD of Science, the lab technicians and my supervising teachers all know I cosplay now and they reckon it's awesome.

In fact! *Nerva says that it's like I'm MEANT to come to their school. To bring the wig, to get the hair, to portray the role of police chief investigator!!! (I have to act snappy towards the parents, like I don't want them there. xDDDD)

I'm freaking over the moon right now. Absolutely can't wait. I'm glad I came to this school this year, because Expo's held every 2 years only. :love:

Since everyone had been asking about how I'm doing on prac, I decided to give a brief rundown on things. Maybe not so brief as I tend to write a lot of crap. So don't read if you hate essays. xD

Due to privacy issues, I am not going to reveal names and the observations I have made. I have since deleted the journal which indicated which school I am going to. I hope you guys won't say which in your comments either, or I will have to hide it. Sorry! :D

So here goes.
Last Friday
I paid the school a visit right before school ended. There was a straight bus to school that I could take and allow me to be 15 minutes early! Turns out I miscalculated. It's early afternoon, no traffic, nobody's getting on the bus. I reached there half an hour before the set appointment with my prac facilitator. =__=
I spoke with the prac co-ordinator and he showed me around before letting me meet my supervising teachers for Mathematics and Science. It was only the first day and my Math supervisor loaded a whole chunk of information on me that just left me REELING. She apologised for that on Monday though. xD She said she'd been working at such a fast pace lately that she subconsciously did it with me and she was hitting herself over doing it to me. She's such an awesome woman.

Monday
Woke up at 5.30am, was very excited. The bus I catch leaves at 7.29am, what was I doing up so early huh? Oh wells. Showered, breakfast, sat around waiting. 7.15am walked out of the house and saw the bus. OHMYGOD. It was early. Runs across the road to catch it, no point because since it was early it was going to wait around. =_= Bah.

Attended assembly with Yvonne*, my Science supervising teacher. Ran into another student teacher I know, Jody* and had a bit of a chat with her. Straight to multi-strand science after that, which was a fair bit of a walk as it is near the farm. As I was helping Yvonne* put the chairs down on the floor, the class starts gathering outside the room and I hear things like, "Hey, it's an Asian chick!" and "Is that a new teacher or something?" I couldn't help but smile to myself. xD Yvonne* introduced me as a new student teacher, and that I would be taking them soon, and they should be supportive and be nice and not scare me away. Can you believe the next comment they made? "Why would we do that?! She's Asian!" You see, majority of the class is Asian, Vietnamese though, so they sort of see a connection with me? +1 for being Asian. YAY!

Next class was Math 12A with Claire*. In contrary to Yvonne's* class, Claire's* Yr 12 Math class only had 1 Asian girl. Much of the lesson was spent on exercises/homework that they had not completed, so I walked around and helped with answering questions they had. I'm still trying to get used to being called Miss. xD After the lesson, Claire* was saying how it was interesting how Shelly*, the little Asian girl at the back had raised her hand and asked a question. Apparently, she NEVER asks questions because she's painfully shy, but Yvonne* was amazed that on my first day there, Shelly* actually spoke to me! Most probably, and we both had our suspicions that it was because I was Asian. +2 for Asian background!

The kids at the school are generally really nice. I'm walking from class to class and the students, mainly the girls call out, "Hi Miss!" to me as I pass them. I don't know them, but they do it anyway. And that's really sweet of them! :)

Tuesday
Nothing much happened. Same old with the students. All pretty nice and stuff.

Wednesday
Had tuckshop duty with Yvonne* which was pretty interesting. The main role of teachers at tuckshop duty was to watch out for kids cutting the queue, making sure no students lean over the railing to ask their friends to buy food for them, check their uniforms as they go by, ensure no pilfering is going on, and finally: crowd control. 4-6 students at a time, depending on a teacher's preference.

Did sports duty with Claire* where she and another teacher Bryan* took the kids out for ten-pin bowling during their lunch to 4th period. How sports at the school works is, in first week, students are supposed to sign up for team sports. If there are too many students for the sports team, trials are held. For students who did not get into a team, or did not sign up for a sports team, have to sign up for an activity the following week. Instead of team sports this time, what is available is freestyle sports. Netball, basketball, cricket, ten-pin bowling, ice-skating etc. So I tagged along with Claire* just so I could get a lesson in logistics, i.e. loading students onto the bus, ensuring crowd control as they enter the bowling center and finally getting students back onto the bus. Pretty simple you might think, but Claire* and Bryan* took 3 weeks to finally figure out a system that would work out for everyone.

Thursday
I participated in the Multi-strand science class today, helping to supervise a paper making practical. I had been assigned the station where I had to demonstrate to the students how to make paper. Which was great! Yvonne* said I had done a good job and the main purpose of me helping out was to integrate me into the class, to let the students get used to another presence in the room. It was really funny at the beginning though, because as I was getting some stuff ready, I hit my head on the metal shelf which made this huge "BAM" sound and I went "Ow" amidst all the "Ohhhhh man!" from the students. Man it was so embarrassing yet funny. xD

What else huh. Oh yeah, I attended my first ANZAC day ceremony in my entire life. I had never been to one before and it was such a solemn event, I was tearing up when the singers started singing 'Amazing Grace'. I had learnt about the ANZACs before back in International School, it just never hit me how much respect was paid to them until yesterday.

I'm getting to know some of the girls in the Math 10B class. Because I sit at the back, I have the chance to speak to Jesse* and Clarissa* a lot which is good. They're both good kids that absolutely adore me right now because 1. I remembered their names, and 2. I have the same pencil box as Jesse, just that mine's cooler than hers. xD How funny huh?

I'm really glad I managed to come to this school. The kids are gorgeous, when I go up to either chase them to class or tell them to tidy their uniforms they ask me if I'm new or where I'm from.. (I.e which country) They are so cute. :love:

I think I'm going to love it at this school! :)

The only reason I go onto msn nowadays is to contact my EDUC friends for help on questions/essays etc. My msn status is set to busy/away for a reason!

I'm busy writing up my essay, switching from screen to journals to books and back to the screen again to type up my references and bam. Some random comes along and throws me off my groove.

Can you not read? Like seriously people. Do you want me to blow up like the last time?

Finished the stupid Math assignment already, our lecturer better give us a good mark this time for screwing up the marking on the previous one. Like geez woman. You've spent 2 years at UQ and you don't even know the marking system? She failed almost half the freaking class according to the uni standards. Gawd.

And now I'm trying to cram as much as I can into my brain by tomorrow's exam. I've got the exam questions already, I just need to research up on it from my textbook and lecture notes. That stupid Math assignment didn't help, what with the due date and all. And I just came down with the flu I caught from Karin which kept me in bed yesterday and this morning... Thus being unable to go to uni which was good anyway because classes got cancelled as the lecturer caught conjunctivitis.

Whoever knew studying to be a teacher would be so hard?
And when I say teacher, I mean a proper teacher.
Like seriously, I don't get the point of relief teachers.
My coursemates and I were talking about it the other day..
The only difference between a relief teacher and a proper teacher is the pay, and that a relief teacher has no proper training. And the education system allows this?

Remember Jonathan Choy? The relief teacher that made Stomp for mocking his students?
In our course, we learn we hold students' educations in the palm of our hand. We are expected to know how to treat students' with respect and what to do with their respect of us. Would relief teachers know what is expected of them?

Dress codes, respect for students and staff, planning lessons etc. All these are the expectations that we have to fulfill. We as teachers have a position to uphold. Our duty is to educate the students, nurture them and prepare them for their entry into society, guide them onto the right road.

If we can't do that, then who will?
I suppose no one said it was easy, but who would have thought it would be so emotionally draining?

I got my marks back for my essay on bullying and my presentation of evil on building resilience in students.
Grades 6 and 5 respectively. Although I probably could have scored a higher grade for the presentation if we had not overshot the 10minute time limit. Sigh. Oh wells.

But yeah! I'm happy! It's been so long since I got sixes in my results!! So if I manage to get a 6 for the exam, I'll be sitting on a grade 6 overall for EDUC6600! And if I get a 7, the university might JUST push me up!! Wish me luck! Exam's on Thursday!
Although I have another assignment due Tuesday though. T_T

Hey guys!! Remember my Science assignment that spanned 21 pages long?
Well, the average grade was 6.1 out of 7.
I scored a grade 6!!! That's between the mark of 80-90 over 100!!
WOOHOO! I am so happy!!!! *dances around*

However, my Math assignment got a C. So did more than half the class, and everyone's pissed off because the lecturer didn't even look at the marking criteria when she marked the freaking thing and she failed about a quarter of the class by the marking sheet, but according to HER OWN marking standard it's a just pass?

Like what the hell? You've taught in UQ for how long? TWO FREAKING YEARS
You are the lecturer, you gave out the course profile. Shouldn't you at least take the time and have the decency to read through the bloody thing?
Good gawd woman!!

So anyway, we're all supposed to make an appointment with her so she can speak to us about the assignment and raise our grades to the UQ marking standard. >_> Urgh.

Also... I finally know where I'm being posted to for my teaching practicum!!! :D

Last night was a shit storm of fun! I was supposed to go clubbing with Joyce and Tanvi but it totally slipped my mind and I forgot to bring my mobile with me when we went out for dinner.

Dined at some place near Jelly's house, in which Jelly, Karin, Joey and myself were there. Hari had been at Jelly's house so he came along, Shu had come over to our place because we were thinking of watching a DVD after dinner, and Jonathan, Suguru's gay but not so gay partner (meaning he's not gay but apparently he gets lots of come ons from gay guys! XD) joined us. Stupid Suguru was out playing tennis. >_>

Jelly had a badminton racket. YAY! I wanted to borrow it. So after dinner we went back to get it, and instead got sidetracked by their Wii.

Finished at 21pages at 1am last night, I saved it and went straight to bed.
This morning, I woke up and went through the paper again just to make sure I had everything. WOOH.

Short update because I really SHOULD start on my Science CF assignment (the solar system one).

Finished my Math STA assignment, wooh!! Can't believe the stupid lecturer demanded it at 8am sharp in the morning. Meaning I had to have it done the night before. Thank god the uni is running a pilot program where the Biol Sciences library is going to close at 12am this whole semester!! Hurray for late nights in the library!!!

Got to get started on my Science CF one, cover and content page, lesson plans, evaluation of my lesson, evaluation of peer feedback. Grargh. Due on Maundy Thursday at 5pm (Woohoo!! Because I'm watching Phantom of the Opera the Musical on Thursday night too!!) But then I have an essay due the following Tuesday during Easter!! OAO

Did I mention I have to get a 6 minute presentation on Calculus ready by Wednesday morning too? Gyah!!

How's all you and your other halves doing on this blown out of proportion day? Seriously though, I never understood the purpose of Valentines' Day... I mean, why dedicate a day just so you can tell your special someone you love them when you can do it every other normal plain stupid day?

Haha.. Oh wells. Must be the mood or something. I remember in secondary school, we used to run around the school before, in between and after classes giving chocolates and flowers to our friends. Those were the days.

And are you all aware that Feb 14th is also Single Awareness Day and it spells SAD? Oh the sad sad single life of mine. Either I'm too picky or I really have been cursed with the broken mirror superstition. (I volunteered to break a mirror for a school funfair 5 years ago. Maybe that's why I'm still single.) 21 and still no boyfriend. BAH!. Boyfriend schmoyfriend.

I'm still not settled down in Australia yet.. Uni's been shitty. Been attending talks and seminars in uni to prepare myself for the upcoming hectic life of a student teacher. Made a couple of new friends although one's already starting to bore me. I feel like an evil person! OAO Already I'm intimidated by what's lined up for me.. Just hope I can pull through and get my GDip in Education and finally fulfill my life long dream of becoming a teacher!!

I found myself with absolutely no time at all. I have to sort out my timetable, download last year's syllabuses before Monday's workshop, buy my textbooks, buy files to contain worksheets and papers I will no doubt collect during this year long course.

The semester hasn't even begun and I have already died from the stress. I barely get enough sleep what with catsitting for Mena, I can't clean this filthy house because right after I do the cats will make a mess again. Worst thing is, Karin and Helen get back tomorrow.. night or morning? Shit. I don't know. @@

At least tomorrow's a seminar free day. But that doesn't mean I'm released from the stress of things. I still have to get my textbooks tomorrow which means a trip to Toowong's QB bookshop in hopes they have the textbooks in already or else I head to uni where I get the books for a more expensive price.

Happy Lunar/Chinese New Year

The Lunar/Chinese New Year is a time of reunions, new clothes, new bedsheets, new shoes, new this, new that, new everything!! And this year we usher in the year of the Rat.

The reunion dinner was boisterous as usual, with all the relatives gathered together at my grandmother's house today. This year however, we had new guests!! :D

All the way from England, my 3rd aunt's mother-in-law finally migrated to Singapore and spent Lunar New Year with us. Although not her first time celebrating, she did get into the mood of things and gave out red packets this year!! How wonderful.

My eldest cousin's Australian born friend working alone in Singapore was invited over to spend the Lunar New Year with our family. Not good for me though, because she took it upon herself to try and matchmake me with him.
Like BLAAAAAH. Pfft. *roll eyes* Why don't YOU find yourself a boyfriend first before trying to find one for me? After all, you're like what? 6/7 years older than me? @@

Another one was my 2nd eldest cousin's girlfriend, whom I hope she'll be my cousin-in-law soon! xD She's a really sweet girl and all the little kiddies seem to like her too! :D

My little cousins are so adorable. Every moment spent with them will leave you squealing over their cuteness. Anne and Claire still adore me to the point that they stalk my every move. It's kinda annoying. Gabrielle's like a koala bear clinging to you. Charles and Damien still can be a little difficult, only giving you attention if you pull the right play moves on them. xD But they're easily distracted by the big boys playing Halo and Dead Rising on the xBox360, all of which are not suitable for their young eyes. >_>

Didn't see the Kor family this time round, they decided to stay at home with their own reunion dinner and hog our mahjong table. T_T Boooo. Does this mean I might not be able to play mahjong before I leave Singapore. Uwah.

We're attending a Chinese CNY mass tomorrow morning for the sake of my grandparents who don't understand English, but that's good. Because most of the extended family will be there. Lunch back at my Ah ma's and then we're heading over to my Por Por's house for a reunion dinner for my mother's side.

At least I'll be able to see Darrick before I leave. I've only seen him ONCE in my whole holidays back here.. What with his BMT and all. xD

So here marks the end of CNY eve and the beginning of CNY.

I found out that my aunt in Australia's neighbour Graeme passed away from cancer recently. I never did think Graeme even suffered from cancer, he never looked like he was sick, in pain or suffering. He was always so happy, waving over the fence to me whenever I was over at my aunt's.

I remember the one time I stupidly locked myself out of the house, I went over and asked Graeme for a ladder. He graciously came over with his ladder and held if for me while I climbed up onto the patio to get back into the house. That was the most unglam moment I had with him, seeing at the time I was wearing a mini skirt. Gawd.

He was such a fun guy to chat to, and his wife was such a lovely woman. The saddest thing is that 6 years ago, they had lost their youngest child to cancer as well. He was only 13 at the time. Their family doesn't deserve anymore pain and suffering, now all that's left is a mother and daughter.

Sometimes I wonder why God takes away all the good people away from this earth. The only consolation I have now, is that Graeme is no longer suffering and that he is with his son in heaven now.

This is for you Graeme. Even though I didn't know you as well as the rest of the neighbourhood, you'll always be remembered.

Oops. Looks like I got so caught up in having fun over my holidays that I totally forgot about updating my blog. How long has it been? Almost a month apparently. Haha...

Been busy with Christmas family lunches and dinners, cosplay photoshoots and family trips to Malaysia! <3 How fun it was!!

Anyway, an update about my life. I have officially graduated from university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and I am now enrolled in the university's Post Graduate Diploma in Education. I'm excited to see what this course can provide me and how my studies is going to be like in the future! One more year and I'm going to be a teacher! <3

Unfortunately this also means that I'm going to be missing Chinese New Year for the first time in 6 years. T_T That means no ang baos for me!! Unless I inform everyone before I leave so they can prepare early ones for me. Bwahaha.

YAY!!
Mum just dropped the bomb on me that instead of 1, now it's 3 and finally 4 cousins coming along to visit me!! Andrew, Edward, Mayle and Bosco. Boy, are we gonna have so much fun. Hahaha..

So they arrive next Tuesday morning 7am and I'm going down to the airport to welcome them, mainly because my grandparents will be there and I'm their favourite granddaughter. I HAVE to be there.

My graduation's on the 3rd, WOOHOO and I fly off on the 5th. Sad that my birthday falls in between. BOOOO. But mum promised that I could celebrate it here with friends, LASER SKIRMISH on the 1st, and back in Singapore on the 7th!! I've already written out the invite list, and surprise surprise. It's gonna be all girls. LMAO.

And then after Christmas, we're driving down to Malaysia!! KL and Genting Highlands to be exact. I'm so freaking excited. The last time we were there it was only 2 families and it was awesome fun. Now it's gonna be 4 families and we're all hogging the bus. Hahaha.

I am finally free of my Math assignment.

Stayed up with Joyce last night and worked on it via msn. Finally finished it at 3.30am and went to bed at 4 in the morning.

Anyway, I have to apologise for my actions last night on msn.

Today on the bus, this Singaporean guy kept staring at me. Best thing was, he was sitting diagonally in front of me, which made it so freaking obvious he was staring!!

I mean, for some reason I keep seeing him around uni now, and he's ALWAYS staring at me!! Fucking hell.

Karin said he must be checking me out. I'd rather jump off a 100 story building than let him check me out. I got sick and tired of his looks I just GLARED at his back until he turned around. And oh boy did that feel good. The stupid idiot chickened out when he realised I knew he was staring. (Gee dumbass, any idiot could see how obvious you were.)

I mean, this isn't the first time I've encountered stupid Singaporean guys.
The first time was that stupid Takuya from SGCafe. Fucker practically wouldn't give up asking me to be his girlfriend until I said yes. Let's just say I totally dropped him like a rock. Urgh.

And then there was my 2nd year in uni when I met a guy at a Singapore party event. I can't believe I gave that jerk my number. We met up for a night movie, with Lysha and his friend. In that movie there was a reference towards black guys having bigger dicks. When that came up, the bastard actually had the gall to turn to look at me and LEER! FUCKING LEER! Oh GROSS!!! It gets better. After the movie whilst we were waiting for the train so we could get rid of him, the fucker asked me, "How big is your bed?" I was like WTH but I answered, "Big enough for me to sleep in?" And that fucking asshole said, "Can I sleep over at your house?"

OMG. Urgh. Sick bastard.

Gah. I still can't believe I actually gave up my Friday and Saturday to babysit/visit my aunt and family.

Remind me again why I hate going over?

1) I get nagged by my aunt (xiaogu) about my cooking, clothes, uni, exams etc. She's worse than my mum.
2) I get pulled left and right by the kids to play this and play that.
3) I get woken up in the most violent way at 6am in the morning to two kids jumping on my back.

Exactly as point number 3 stated, I got woken up at 6am by Aaron and Nicholas to go watch cartoons with them. Obviously it's so hard to make them listen so I just threaten never to visit again. It always works. xD

But before I knew it, they were back again; claiming breakfast was getting cold, my uncle and auntie had gone out... I thought, "OMG! What time is it!!!"

I was tricked.
It was freaking 8.30AM!!!

Whatever happened to my Saturday morning sleep ins? T_T

At least the only good things that come out of visiting the family is I get free meals.. GOOD meals, unlike the stuff Karin and I cook for ourselves. xD

Babysitting at Xiaogu's yesterday cos it was their wedding anniversary. Crap, they mentioned how many years it was but it's completely slipped my mind. =_=

After much begging and whining I finally gave it and allowed the boys some playstation time. Haha.. Before I sent them off to watch Mission Impossible III, allowing myself some quiet time to study for my mid semester exam coming Tuesday.

Massive assignment load really.
There was that HUGE MATH3403 assignment I handed in on Wednesday, my MATH4090 computer assignment due this coming Wednesday and my EDUC1029 essay the Friday! (Although Malcolm said forget about the due date. As long as we get it in properly.)

At least after doing that horrible 3403 assignment, I'm quite confident for the mid semester exam. If it's going to be anything LIKE the mock exam he gave us for practise. Haha...

Speaking of mock exams.. Greg made me to a mock driving test instead of the usual driving lesson. Needless to say I performed less than up to par when I backed into the curb with a reverse parking. Haha. And I usually do SO WELL! *whines*

Anywho.. Beef casserole and mashed potatoes on the menu tonight!

Ekka! <3

Isn't it wonderful to go to the Ekka on a weekday?
The queues are short, there's not so many people and the air is stinky with animal poop.
How nice.

Karlyne and I went to the Ekka today after uni and boy was it empty. The first thing that assailed our noses was the horrible stench of cattle dung. Very very pleasing on entry.

The riders and their horses looked so sophisticated standing at attention waiting their turn to enter the field for judging. Sometimes I get the feeling that the riders are feeling haughty about literally looking down at us. Or maybe I'm just jealous that they get to ride a horse. Haha.

I won a little speckled frog this time. No more big prizes for me, sadly. Managed to get my hands on the showbag I'd been eyeing. Which is wonderful. All it needs is a little more modifications and my prop is done! Speaking of which, I've got bad news about my cosplay but talk about that later.

We only sat on one ride sadly, because by the time we got off the "Bad Ass Zipper"; the constant spinning had finally taken a toll on our stomachs. But, nothing a little homemade lemonade can't cure eh?

I finally sat on the chair lift in all my 5 years of being to the Ekka, and it was a wonderful experience. Scary yes, because I'm paranoid, but fun. Plus the fact that a 13 year boy tried to flirt with me on the ride? (More amusing the fact is that we were going in opposite directions)

Here's his pick up line:
Boy: "Hey babe!"
Me: *weird look* "Haha, you're too young for me!"
Boy: "Oh sorry! ... Maybe when I'm older!!!"

OMG. It was so hilarious. If I ever see him again I might actually give him a peck on the cheek for trying. Least he's got guts unlike the pitiful Asian guys at the Inifinity dance party the other night. *rolleyes*

Joined Sena and Damien (Ka's housemates) for dinner at Chinatown. I got to eat my fill of roasted duck skin. YUM! It's so much better than chicken skin, I swear! God, it was so delicious. Anyway, thanks for the ride back you guys~ <3

Anyway, as I had mentioned before.
I don't think I will be able to attend Cosfest 2008 anymore. Much less return to Singapore during that period of time. T_T
Because I start my postgraduate diploma and it'll be a full-on year with lectures, tutorials and practicums (working the field aka work placement in schools).

Thus I apologise to all my friends that I have already made plans with.

My friends and I have been going a little crazy over old school games lately.

Melanie came over yesterday night with a Monopoly board game and we played a fast game, buying houses and hotels the minute we buy a property, chucking $500 under free parking and adding our fines to it.
I got sent to jail twice in a row before lady luck shined down on me. I got double 5's, moving me right to free parking. That was $1000 odd added straight to my pocket. Mwahaha.
Plus I owned Mayfair and had a hotel there. 8D
Mel landed on it TWICE! First time I let her off only if she gave me her property for Park Mall. WOOH. The most expensive properties were mine!! 2nd time Mel landed there I let her off in installments. Haha.
And then JAY landed on Mayfair but I let him off after he gave me his 2 stations and water utility (giving me 4 stations and both utilities altogether) And then I landed on David's Trafalgar Square and I went bust. LMAO.

And then at dinner we played Hangman! We even asked the waitress if the restaurant had paper. Hahaha. Karin and I were coming up with all the technical terms and words whereas Jay and David were being dumbasses mashing random words into weird sentences. =_= Eg. "Luncheon voucher"

Today Mena came over to make a card for her mother. Her birthday's tomorrow and in a last ditch effort she decided to turn to the only creative friend she knew. Me. -_______- Haha, so I dug out my 'craft bag' and walah! And then Mena asked to see my D cup bra (you know, the ones I used for Bianchi?) and went digging and found my wigs instead.

That, plus my aunt's appointment book, mobile and patient's contact numbers.
You see, my aunt's a clinical psychologist and she's taken a week's leave (with the Ekka holiday and all) to go skiing in New Zealand!
It was so funny to see her all excited and jumping around the house like a little girl.

Here's the awesome part. I'm being paid $100 to take her calls, do the chores and grocery shopping for her. WOOHOO!

Anywhos sat around today with Karlyn catching up, talking random shit before heading down to QUT to try to get in for the National Day celebrations (Dinner + Live screening of the parade) as seen on Stomp.

I reckon that celebration was so poorly organised. There are hundreds of Singaporeans in Brisbane and they only managed to obtain a lecture theatre SMALL enough to accomodate 150 students? Dumbest thing ever.

There were so many gatecrashers Ka and myself included since we didn't RSVP :P the in the end we just left. Had pancakes for dinner at Pancake Manor instead. Totally yummy. Haha! Let's do it again sometime! =D

I've just come back from watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

I can't say I liked it very much because they left out so many good parts in the book.
The effects were good yes, makes me look forward to what they could do with the 7th movie, what with all the flying, dying, destroying of the horcruxes and war! =D

And, I'd so watch the movie again, just so I could see Cornelius Fudge's face blanch when he sees Old Voldie. Haha.

Not only would I get to meet new people and enjoy it, I'd get to learn all about the different craft products the store would have to offer.

Anyway, after five long years I was finally able to celebrate my best friend Sandie's birthday with her. Since the birthday girl didn't blog much about it I won't mention what happened. Those involve should either give a pat on their back for their awesome friendship and support while others should just dig a hole and die in it.

But otherwise, she organised a chalet for her 21st and it totally rocked.
Sand: Sorry I couldn't spend the night though...

But anyway I did explain what happened to my parents and now they know how much my 21st means to me. Maybe that means I'll be back in time to celebrate my 21st in Singapore. xD Chris and Winnie did express interest in getting an invite, >_> and hope it'll be a costume/cosplay one. *dies* Wahaha.

Er Gu (Dad's sister) and the whole family came down. She gave me 4 containers of her homemade pineapple tarts! <3 Yum~~~ I got to tease Mayle about being on Ka-Ching that morning on Kids Central. Bryan, Brenda and Bosco were on tv as well. Haha.

Uncle Louise (Mum's brother) and family came down to say goodbye too. I had only seen them twice this holidays and the last was on my last day in SG. Bryan, the self proclaimed genius got to meet Singapore's Brainiest Kid, Annabeth.

(Yes I know. My family has very famous people. 8D Luke Tan is the sailing champion that made the newspaper. Annabeth won Singapore's Brainiest Kid over all the other brainy ones. Mayle and Edward got on a kids television show. Bosco, Bryan and Brenda got to ride on Mayle's 20 minutes of fame. HAHA)

Uncle Sarbjeet, Auntie Rita, Jack and Ethan made an appearance too. For which I'm really touched because they had only just touched down from London that same morning and they made the trip down to the airport again to see me. <333
Jack's SUPER TALL now! He's only 14 and he's 170cm PLUS? Bryan was so shy. LOL He's 14 too and he's shorter than me. He even had the cheek to tease Luke who's 14 and EVEN shorter. Naughty!

I really really appreciated the chance that was given to me. I had not seen them in almost 4-5 years? Auntie Rita says I'm a bad influence because I taught Jack and Ethan how to worm their way around words to get what they want from her. Haha. I'm not smart but I sure am conniving. >D

Here's a convo I had with my sister in the supermarket yesterday, much to the chagrin of my mother.

Me: "Hey look! They DO sell tampons here!" *points*
Mum: *glares*
Me: "Woah! But that's HUGE! O.o That's like bigger than the maxi one!"
Emily: "OMG! How can someone stick something so big in their vagina?!"
Mum: *glares some more"
Me: =__= "Emily, how do you think babies are made?"
Emily: "Oh yeah hor, a penis is so much bigger."
Mum: *walks away*

LMAO. Best thing was this mother and her little daughter was right next to us and she looked so embarrassed. Wahaha!

And this conversation in the car on the way to the dentist today.

Dad: "Eh Ju, how old are you this year?"
Me: "Huh? 21. Why?"
Mum: "In December."
Dad: "Oh, you're going to get money on your birthday.."
Me: "EH from who?!"
Mum: "Insurance, but very little one lah."
Dad: "Actually I should take it away, or else you will use it to buy cosplay costumes."
Mum: "Hahahaha"
Me: "Huh? How much? Little?"
Dad: "20."
Mum: "$20K lah."
Me: "OMG $20K IS LITTLE?!"
Dad: "$20K, what can you buy in Singapore?"
Me+Mum: "A lot of cosplay costumes."

LOL.
Apparently it's some insurance policy on the life insurance my Dad got for me 2 years back.
I don't even know the details. LOL. But mum says I'm not getting it. T________T
